Lily’s Wild Heart, Inc. is a non-profit whose mission is to advocate for wild mustangs and burros, to educate about their vulnerability, to spur interest in gentled mustangs, to share their iconic Americana with the public, and to support other wild horse and burro entities. Our EIN number is 33-3191502.

Lily is from the McCullough Peaks Herd in the northern Bighorn Basin east of Cody, Wyoming. Lily was taken off the land in March of 2024 in a controversial bait-and-trap operation conducted by the Bureau of Land Management. She, along with her dam, Lark, were among a total of 40 horses removed from the foothills and badlands she had known her whole life. Lily, part of the Bridger herd, was not quite seven, and spent the spring with the other mares and fillies in holding at the Rock Springs BLM Holding Facility. She was transported to Wheatland and then shipped to Doswell, Virginia in June, where we saw her for the first time. Lily has been home in Maryland since July 2025 and enjoys her small herd friends, Behne, Vinnie, and Bella. .
